DESCRIPTION:Avalanche Savvy\, led by club member Lee Blazek\, is back with a free Avalanche Awareness Night at Morris & Mae Food Hall in Golden\, and this one has something for every level. \nNew to avalanche safety? The main presentation covers snowpack\, avalanche terrain\, essential rescue gear\, and how to assess risk before you ride. \nAlready have your Level 1? Shorter 30–45 minute breakout sessions run in the back rooms. Topics include trip planning for motorized users\, new snow pit tests for sledders presented at ISSW 2026\, post-rescue medical care\, and a “Pro 1 Ask Me Anything” panel. \nDoors\, food and drinks start at 5 PM\, and talks start at 6. This year there are two separate rides\, on Saturday\, January 23 and Sunday\, January 24. This post is for the Saturday ride. \nThis all-day ride covers about 50 miles of groomed snowmobile trails near Grand Lake. Riders are grouped with a trail leader and a safety rider\, with stops along the way for food\, drinks and photos. It’s our way of thanking the men and women who have served our country\, and sharing the mountains with as many of them as possible. \nClub members started the ride in 2018 with six veterans. By 2024\, more than 179 veterans rode with us. \nVeterans and volunteers: sign-ups open November 1. Each person can sign up for one ride only\, either Saturday or Sunday. Watch the Heroes Ride page for rider and volunteer registration and to see this year’s sponsors. \nThank you to all the sponsors and volunteers who make this event possible. \n\nSupport the ride: Donate or sponsor a veteran ($250). SUMMARY:Save the Date: 2027 CSA Convention – Leadville
DESCRIPTION:Mark your calendar. The Colorado Snowmobile Association’s 2027 Annual Convention is coming to Leadville\, February 5–7. \nEach year the convention brings together snowmobile clubs\, riders and partners from across Colorado for a weekend of riding\, connecting and planning for the future of the sport. Past conventions have included group rides\, an evening banquet\, and avalanche safety presentations. \nThe weekend wraps up with the CSA quarterly meeting on Sunday\, February 7 at 9 AM. It’s a chance to hear the latest on trail grooming\, land access and safety programs that affect every rider in the state. \nCSA is the nonprofit that supports Colorado snowmobile clubs\, including Mile Hi\, and helps fund grooming on more than 3\,000 miles of winter trails. Showing up is one of the best ways to support the sport. \nThe host club\, venue\, schedule and registration details will be posted here once CSA announces them. SUMMARY:2027 Flight for Life Poker Run
DESCRIPTION:The 25th Annual Snowmobile for Life Poker Run is Saturday\, 2/27/2027\, at 9 AM in Grand Lake. \nThe Mile Hi Snowmobile Club of Denver and the Trail Blazers Snowmobile Club of Grand Lake host the Snowmobile for Life Poker Run to raise funds for Flight for Life Colorado. \nFlight for Life Colorado (click link) is an Air Ambulance service based in Denver out of St. Anthony’s Hospital.  It started in 1972 and was the first Air Ambulance service in the country.  It was inspired by helicopter pilots returning to Colorado from the Vietnam War and 2026 is the 54th Anniversary for Flight for Life Colorado. \nAbout Flight for Life Colorado:  About \nFlight for Life History: History \nThe Mile Hi and Trail Blazers Snowmobile Clubs support and fund raise for Flight for Life Colorado for many reasons.  Three important reasons to support Flight for Life are: \n\nFlight for Life might be your quickest if not your only way out when you are hurt in the mountains;\nFlight for Life provides search and rescue assistance;\nFlight for Life never questions a patient’s ability to pay and uses donations to offset operation costs.\n\nVolunteers and silent auction donation items are still needed for the Snowmobile for Life Poker Run. \nSilent auction items can be snowmobile related but do not need to be snowmobile related.  Examples of silent auction items are snowmobile gear\, clothing\, lodging\, food\, art\, household items\, repair work\, gift cards or anything else you think might be of value. \nProceeds from the Poker Run and silent auction are donated to Flight for Life.  In prior years\, over $10\,000 dollars have been raised and donated to Flight for Life Colorado! \nTo ride\, donate\, sponsor or volunteer with the Snowmobile for Life Poker Run\, please contact the club with the Contact Form\, or contact Steve directly per his contact info. below. \nSee you in Grand Lake\, \nThe Mile Hi Snowmobile Club
