Skill Level: Intermediate, Advanced, or Expert.
Riding Clinic: We’ll ride N out of the parking lot, with very little trail riding…only as necessary to go to meadows and hills with trees that are good for learning and practicing. Recommend downloading the free COTREX app if you don’t have another winter trails app that shows Rabbit Ears trails.
We’ll learn and practice as many of the following skills as we can fit in:
- Wrong foot forward getting on edge in tight situations with little room,
- Walking sled on edge in a controlled manner in a field, and then progressing to steeper terrain,
- Throttle/Brake/Track speed/Counter steering to get and keep sled on edge in the most efficient manner,
- Controlled descent on steeper terrain, and 180 at bottom transitioning to a climb,
- Using the elevator technique on steeper terrain to control descent,
- Stopping sled on edge on steeper terrain, then resuming controlled edge line across steeper terrain,
- Transitioning from one edge to the other side on steeper terrain for “best line” management,
- Edge control through tighter tree lines,
- Neutral riding position vs wrong foot forward in specific conditions (best choice depending on situation).
Location: Rabbit Ears – Muddy Creek Parking Lot. See the map below for map/directions.
- Parking lot may or may not be plowed, but it usually is or is well packed down.
