Heroes of Freedom Ride Card 2022

Mission Accomplished!

Thank you for making the 5th Annual Heroes of Freedom Veterans Snowmobile Ride a success.

Thank you to our veterans for their service and riding with us.  Thank you to our family and friends for their support.  Thank you to our sponsors including G-Force Powersports, Lockheed Martin, Tobe Outerwear, Colorado Mountain Rentals, Klein E Group and On the Trail Rentals.  Thank you to our volunteers.  And thank you to the Mile Hi Snowmobile Club for hosting the ride.

The 2022 Heroes of Freedom Veterans Snowmobile Ride had a great day in the mountains west of Grand Lake with blue skies and white snow capped mountains.  There were 52 veterans and 37 volunteers riding snowmobiles which made for a fun day.  Riders rode nearly 50 miles looping from On the Trail Rentals to Idleglen to Gravel Mountain to Whiskey Park and back to On the Trail Rentals.

Steve Swatlowski and Chad Doughty of the Mile Hi Snowmobile Club started the The Heroes of Freedom Veterans Snowmobile Ride in 2018.  That first year there were only 6 veterans who attended.  Each year since the ride has grown and we hope it will continue growing because we want to give thanks to and share the outdoors with as many veterans as possible.

If you know of other veterans, sponsors or volunteers who would like to participate next year in the 2023 Heroes of Freedom Veterans Snowmobile Ride please share this email and the club website with them.  Several pictures are attached below but they have been resized to fit this email.  Higher resolution pictures plus video will be posted to the club website link below ASAP.

And finally the Mile Hi Snowmobile Club is hosting the Snowmobile For Life Poker Run Saturday January 19th, 2022 in Grand Lake.  If you would like to snowmobile again the Snowmobile for Life Poker Run is a great event that benefits Flight for Life Colorado.  Flight for Life Colorado was inspired by veterans returning from the Vietnam War in 1972 and it was the first Air Ambulance service in the country.  2022 is the 50th Anniversary for Flight for Life Colorado and is the 20th Anniversary of the Snowmobile for Life Poker Run.

Jim lead a group of 7 this last Saturday.  They rode Red Dirt, the fresh snow was pure white and the skies were solid blue.  It made a great Red, White and Blue weekend.

Thank you Jim for leading and thank you Kenny for the pictures.

Wednesday, January 12, 2022

Jim Allessio will be leading the club ride this Saturday January 15th 2022 9:00 AM.

The ride will be at Red Dirt north of Kremmling off of Highway 134.  The ride starts at 9:00 so try to be there by 8:30.  From Kremmling to the Red Dirt snowmobile parking is about 30 minutes.

Below is a link to the Red Dirt snowmobile parking.  Google maps sometimes tries to route you from the north via CR 182 but it's best to access it from the south via Highway 134.  Take HWY 40 to HWY 134 to CR 19 to FR 100 and look for Latigo Ranch signs.  The snowmobile parking is on the east side of the road and down a small hill.

Beware that there is active logging on FR 100 and FR 147 north of the snowmobile parking.  The logging company has the road plowed down to the dirt in locations so be careful.

Come prepared to ride with:
1)  Avalanche gear.  Beacon, shovel and probe.
2)  Radio.  Channel 18-21
3)  Food and water.

For more information contact Jim Allessio.

Ride safe and have fun!
